This is the year of the Phoenix

So, for those who haven't seen on Facebook, I have had some very exciting news come in recently. A few pieces, to be honest. Now which to start with...

I think I'll start with the box set that I'm a part of. Alphas On The Prowl will be published 28th April through Excessica Publishing. There are 11 authors in this box set, some of which are NY Times and USA Today best sellers, so you know the stories have to be of high standard. I'm very pleased to announce that The Wolf In The Neighborhood will be getting re-released by itself as well as in the box set. I honestly can't wait to reveal the cover, this is an extremely exciting venture for me.

But that's not all that has me walking on a cloud right now. The Wolf In The Neighborhood (as is, before the edits I'm currently doing for it) and Once Bitten have both made the top 5 Paranormal entrants for the Easy Chair Bookstore Awards, just as Wolf Smitten has made the top 5 Series entrants. I was over the moon when I found out I'd made not one but two lists, 3 times. Final winners aren't announced until 1 June, but just to make 2 lists, with 35 entrants in the paranormal category alone, and 14 in the series categories, is such an honour that I don't think I'll stop being excited about for a long time.

But wait, there's more! Seriously, I'm not just saying it. I'm also heading in another project, a paranormal anthology with a group of wonderful authors. While details aren't being announced until the end of May, I can tell you that it promises to be a wonderful group of stories, ranging in sub-genres, and will be 16+ friendly. I've made the cover already, because I'm just so excited for it, and the biggest piece of excitement for me is that it will be print-on-demand, as well as available on Kindle. Further details are being discussed, however there won't be long to wait at all until the cover is revealed and posters will be
shared. So stay tuned, there is plenty to come.

I've also entered another contest, one for works in progress, but it's only early days so I have no news I can share about that, except that it's so far so good! And this is all before upcoming news and projects through Naughty Nights Press, my publishing home!

One last bit of news, though. Only slightly related. I'm now able to see the light at the end of the tunnel that is this Bachelor's Degree, with 48 weeks to go, with a high possibility of getting invited to do Honours, for which I've already decided on what I want to do. On top of that, glutton for punishment that I am *wink wink*, I'm also considering going on to complete a Master's Degree as well. If I'm not crazy by the end of the BA, I'm fairly sure I will be after the MA hahaha.

So it definitely seems to be the year of the Phoenix. I'd love to hear how this year is going for you, as well. Feel free to share any great news you've had, things to look forward to, or even if things are going rough, I honestly want to hear. The comments are open!

Author Chat Friday: Even more Questions Authors Can't Stand!

Yes, that's right, I'm back for another week, with another three questions authors can't stand being asked. This week's three doozies come from the lovely Maggie Nash, a fellow Australian author. So, let's discuss these questions, shall we?

When are you going to write a real book?
In today's world of technology, the ebook is the fastest way for a reader to get the story they want; they don't even have to leave the house! So why is it that only print is still considered a "real" book?
Now, don't get me wrong; I still prefer print over digital for reading pleasure. That's just me; I like my books "old school". I love the smell of paper. However, not all stories are long enough to be a stand-alone print story; that is nothing to do with the author, it is just simply the case sometimes. Some stories truly are only short. And in a world where digital publishing is so popular, why must a short story still be only published in an anthology? There is nothing wrong with a short story being publishing as a stand-alone, digital copy. It gets its own attention, its own promotions; it doesn't fight with several other stories in an anthology, it shines by itself.
So before you ask an author who publishes primarily shorter stories, or publishes only online, ask yourself; why should a short story have to fight for your attention just so you can hold a "real" book in your hands?
I also would like to mention that "real books" are more expensive to produce, with very little of the money ending up in the author's hands because of the price of printing and distributing. It is not the author or publisher denying the reader the chance to read a "real book" these days; it is the distributors and book stores who take most of the profit that are making it too costly for books that aren't already extremely popular to go to print. Zetta Brown has written a fantastic post on just this particular issue on her blog She Writes. I encourage you to check it out to see that it's not all easy for an author and publisher to get a book in to being "real". Authors need their paychecks too!

Oh, you write THOSE books!
Is that a problem? In a world where women are more free to indulge in their sexuality (I'm not saying all women are promiscuous, we're just finally able to be the sexual beings we've always meant to be), it is a shame that people still frown on THOSE books. There is an audience for everything, I've always said. Single women, women in relationships, mothers, working women, all types of women (and even some men!) enjoy these books. So if someone has a problem with THOSE books, then you're obviously not part of the audience authors of THOSE books are writing for; instead of trying to belittle the authors of THOSE books, congratulate them on having an imagination, and stick with the books you enjoy. There are audiences for everything; just because you're not part of all those audiences, doesn't mean that certain subjects shouldn't be written about.

Do people still read bodice rippers?
Personally, that term makes me cringe. But that's more because it strikes a painful image of a poor, defenceless renaissance style dress being torn to shreds, damaged beyond repair. For other authors, it can seem a derogatory term.
As I said in answer to the previous question; there is an audience for everything, and just because you aren't part of all those audiences, doesn't mean that, in this case, those audiences don't exist.
To actually answer the question: yes. Plenty of people do still read "bodice rippers." Just google search "Popular Erotic Romance novels" and you will find multiple Top 10 lists, "Must Read Erotic Novels" lists, and several places that suggest what to read after 50 Shades of Grey. Gone are the days of hiding Mills and Boons books because they were THOSE books; women are now boldly reading these books on the train/bus on the way to work, discussing the books over coffee and lending them to family members. As much as I personally don't like 50 Shades of Grey, I will admit that it has been a considerable help in getting erotica and erotic romance novels out of the "taboo" list, and in to the "socially acceptable" list. Heck, that book is getting a movie! So yes, not only are people still reading 'bodice rippers,' THOSE books are rapidly becoming even more popular and socially acceptable. With Mother's Day in Australia coming up this Sunday, stores are listing 50 Shades of Grey and several other of THOSE books as "Great Ideas for Mum!" in catalogues. So please, don't act puritan and innocent. There are audiences for everything, and just because you aren't part of it, doesn't mean there isn't a call for it.

I think next month might be my last of the questions, unless readers out there have any to suggest, or any other authors have some to suggest. I have some research to do for one of the questions for the next one, so until then, please think before you ask, because you never know if the question might be something the author could consider offensive or rude!

Author Chat Friday: I'm a slave and my Master sucks...

This Friday, Alysha is here with an Author Chat with a twist...

I am a slave…and my Master sucks.

I’ve become interested in the BDSM lifestyle. I know that a Slave’s pleasure comes from making sure the Master’s needs are always met, that pleasure comes from service and trust. A good submissive obeys the Master’s every command. And a good Master takes care of his sub, rewarding her, keeping her from harm and giving her what she needs even if she doesn’t know what that is herself.

But my Master sucks. He lets me think I am in command. He lets me believe that I am giving orders, but in fact my whole life revolves around doing things the way he wants. And does he ever reward me? No. So I’m taking a stand. Literally. I am getting up from my seat and walking away from the machine that every day, does everything it can to make me its slave.

You hear that Hewlett Packard laptop? Are you listening Apple Mac? Loud enough for you over there, Dell?

I am leading a slave revolt. No more will we writers agonise over how to change the speech marks from straight to curly. Stuff your shift return. Stick your tabs where the sun don’t shine. You can send me all the dialogue boxes you like, because if you crash—I am going to report it.

And you can take your 403 page not found and …

What’s that you say, computer? If I don’t format my blog entry correctly you won’t load it? But I promised Phoenix I’d have it ready! Please open the document. Oh, forgive me. Please open the document, Sir.

No, Sir, I didn’t mean I wanted to stop using the computer. Yes, Sir, I do understand that when you subject me to the little green wavy line it is because you know best. Oh, no, Sir, I would never challenge you on your spelling of honor. No sir. I’m sorry Sir.

I am a slave…and my Master instructs me to inform you that he is wiser than me, quicker than me and has a much better grasp of grammar than me. My Master does permit you to share a sample from my foray into the world of BDSM, which you can read here.

Sharing the Billionaire Anthology—Submitting to Him

A sexy Greek, a billionaire and the woman they share.

The knock sounded on the door twenty minutes later. Blair opened it to find Nick standing there with the waiter. Oh yes, so easy to lead. If he continued to respond so well, the night looked very promising.

“Since the decision about the menu was mine, I wanted to be sure you found the meal satisfactory,” Nick said and stepped over the threshold.

The waiter rolled the cart inside and under Nick’s critical gaze, set out the meal. When everything was ready, Nick nodded a brief dismissal. The waiter shut the door behind him and Nick turned to Blair. His quick, searching glance around the room didn’t go as unnoticed as he probably hoped it would. “If Mrs Cowdery finds my selections satisfactory, I’ll leave you to enjoy the meal.”

“I’m sure my wife will find your—choices—tempting.” He raised his voice, “Elise, your order has arrived.”

Blair pushed open the door to the bedroom, then stood back. Elise stepped into the light. Nick’s jaw dropped and his eyes went wide. He stared at Elise for a long moment, the only movement the convulsive jerk of his throat as he swallowed and the brush of his tongue across his lips.

Blair smiled. Just the reaction he’d hoped for. His own cock had once more hardened into an iron rod.

Elise wore nothing but a black corset, laced tight so her ample breasts bulged above it, rounded and soft. Boning cinched her waist, giving her a perfect hourglass figure. A black leather thong left most of her delicious buttocks bare. Her legs were encased in thigh-high stockings and she teetered on outrageously high platform stilettos.

Her hands were bound behind her back with a length of silk ribbon the exact colour of the blue roofs of Santorini.

“Sit,” Blair ordered her and she sank gracefully onto the sofa.

“As you can see,” he said to Nick. “My wife is currently unable to avail herself of the fine food you've provided.”

He waited, but though Nick slipped his tongue out once more, and opened and shut his mouth, no sound emerged.

Blair handed Nick a fork from the table. “I want my wife to sample the food. Would you oblige?”

“Me? I…” Nick stumbled to halt.

Blair met his gaze head on. “You did say you would do anything to make our stay more comfortable?”

Nick moved his head in a sharp, staccato movement that might have been a nod.

“Let me make it plain to you. I am a man who is rich beyond compare, not only in worldly goods but in the affections of my beautiful wife. So rich that it pleases me, and her, to share her with a very select few. You could be one of those.” Blair offered him a reassuring smile. “There will be no coercion. You are free to walk away now, or after, without any fear of consequences. I will not report you or try to have you removed from your job.” He walked to Elise and placed his hand on her shoulder, running it down the smooth flesh of her throat, stroking over the full mounds of her breasts. He looked up and caught the heavy-lidded intentness of Nick’s expression. “I promise you if you consent to join our little game, there will be no consequences.” He ran one finger under the edge of the corset to touch Elise’s nipple. “No negative consequences.”

The front of Nick’s pants bulged in an unmistakeable sign of his interest.

Elise smiled and Blair pinched her nipple hard. She gasped and dropped her head submissively.

Nick looked at them both, with pale assessing eyes, then he took one step forward and picked up a fork from the table. He speared into the first bowl and brought out a tiny, red morsel. “Tomato keftedes,” he said, his voice shaking as much as the fork. “M-made from the local tomatoes. Unique to the island.” He held the fork to Elise’s mouth.

She lifted her head in response to the upward pressure of Blair’s hand under her chin but her lips remained shut.

”She can’t eat until you give her permission,” Blair said.

I give permission?” It was a question but Blair nodded as if Nick had issued an instruction and Elise opened her mouth. The fork wobbled and the savoury dropped in more by luck than intention. Elise swallowed it and whispered, “Thank you, Sir.” Her open mouth begged silently for another bite, but she didn’t raise her eyes or speak again.

Blair reached into his pocket and drew out a tangled bundle of blue silk and tossed it onto the table.

Promo Monday with Alysha Ellis Submitting to Him

My latest release from Total-E-Bound is part of the Sharing the Billionaire Anthology.  Imagine a man with uncountable wealth.  He can afford every pleasure his heart desires. The pleasure he loves most is his wife, and he wants to show another man just how special she is.

'Submitting to Him' by Alysha Ellis

Elise loves her husband. He shares her with a handsome, dominating stranger.

Billionaire Blair Cowdery and his wife Elise travel the world seeking new pleasures. On the island of Santorini their status ensures they get the personal attention of their hotel’s handsome young manager, Nick Zervelos.
Blair’s pleasure is to share his beautiful wife with someone who appreciates her special gifts. Nick’s masterful nature makes it plain he is such a man. Blair soon discovers he and Nick share an interest in bondage and rope play.
Together Blair and Nick show Elise the pleasure of submission and the freedom that comes from being bound.
The two men work together, orchestrating a series of heated sexual encounters. They take Elise to a new space, pushing her limits. They teach her that in losing herself she will discover her true identity.
By the time the game of dominance and submission is played out, Blair, Nick and Elise are bound with ties too strong to resist.

Well, doesn't that just sound sexy and devine?!

I'm pleased to welcome Gemma Parkes back to The Naughty Pages to talk about a new release of hers.

Hi Phoenix,

Thank you for having me over on your brilliant blog today to tell you all about
my latest anthology! I have called it ‘Erotic Encounters’ and it contains four of my hottest stories including my best seller ‘The Slipper for Rose.’

Synopsis:

  • The Slipper for Rose: Rose is a bad girl. Her college is tired of her anti- social behaviour. When a new master starts working there (Mr. Philips) he thinks he might just have the solution and set's about making it at once. It is only a matter of time before Rose finds herself locked in her master's office. Her behaviour, it seems, is a punishable offence, will she learn her lesson?
  • Alice’s Initiation: When Tom first met Alice she was a sweet, virginal girl of twenty three who still lived at home with her parents. A virtue that sexual predator Tom found irresistible. He soon set about seducing Alice, taking his time to gain both her love and her trust. It wasn’t long however, before he grew tired of her chaste approach and encouraged her to join him in a whole new world of sexual experiences. Alice soon became a willing participant in her initiation process.
  • In Lust with Lucy: Eve is disinterested in the mindless chatter about men and relationships that she hears daily from her colleagues at work. The secret object of her own desire is a work mate called Lucy. When Lucy calls around one evening and catches Eve in a compromising situation it would seem as though all her fantasies are about to come true.
  • Three’s Company? An unexpected ménage a trios brings thrills and excitement for two flat sharing young women. However, along with the excitement there is much soul searching. And for one of the girls, it is an experience that’s about to change her life forever.

Excerpt: (The Slipper for Rose)

Two weeks to the day after his arrival Mr. Philips, along with another member of staff heard a terrible commotion on the corridor outside the science block. They rushed out just in time to see Rose, with her hands full of black curls, shaking another girl and shouting very loudly in her face that if the girl had given her boyfriend head he would not have needed to get it from her. The teachers sighed before pulling the girls apart.
“I’ll deal with Rose.” Mr. Philips said, leaving his colleague to take away the shaken victim of Rose’s temper and attempt to calm her down.
“My office Rose.” he told her, turning swiftly on his heels knowing that she would follow him arrogantly.
Once inside and with the door locked safely behind them, Rose turned on the charm, her large blue eyes a picture of innocence.
“She attacked me.” she said looking incredulous.
Mr. Philips looked at her carefully. She was very pretty. Her perfect oval face
sported full, pink lips and her blonde mane of hair tumbled untidily over her
shoulders, it was as unruly as her nature. Rose certainly had a body to tempt any man, young or old, and she showed it off to him now, pushing her breasts outwards and leaning against his desk, her legs slightly apart. He felt his throat tighten. He had been patiently waiting for this moment.
“Did you sleep with that girl’s boyfriend?” he asked calmly.
Rose walked over to him swaying her hips and fixing him with a deep stare,
“No,” she said, “I just blew him.”
He groaned inwardly keeping his expression firm, “Are you sorry Rose?”
She laughed, tossing her head back so that her hair cascaded provocatively down her back.

“Why should l be?” she licked her lips, “It was really good.”
Mr. Philips stood up to his full height and looked Rose right in the eye.
“If you want to remain in College,” he said sternly, “You will stop upsetting
everybody.”
Rose pouted and flounced towards the door.
“If l have need to bring you back here Rose,” he continued, “I will take matters much further, do you understand.”
“Whatever.” Rose replied. She closed his office door behind her and thought him the same as all the rest. All mouth and trousers she laughed to herself, especially the trouser part. She could do what she wanted; the college needed her fees and would never kick her out.
Mr. Philips breathed deeply and stared at the closed door; he reached inside his filing cabinet for his toolbox before taking out his electric screwdriver, two wooden blocks and some items he hadn’t used since his last post. Then removing his jacket and draping it carefully over the back of the chair he set to work at once. He knew in his gut that Rose would be back within the week. He wanted to be ready for her.

Promo Monday with Gemma Parkes and her Christmas Delights

Today, on the second last author Promo Monday for the year, I'm pleased to welcome back Gemma Parkes, this time to talk about her own Christmas anthology, Christmas Delights!

Thank you for having me over today!

I want to tell you about my new release ‘Christmas Delights’. As you know, l love to write Erotica and as Christmas is my favourite time of the year, it seemed a perfect opportunity to combine the two!

I have written five short stories with Christmas as a theme guaranteed to warm up the coldest of winter nights:

Synopsis:

Christmas is a time for giving. One of the most important things we can give is love, how we express that love is up to us. In this anthology, Christmas is expressed through erotic journeys of lust and discovery, making it a very special time of the year for all the characters within. Lie back and enjoy these five erotic tales of Christmas written from the naughty pen of Gemma Parkes:

  • Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wear lingerie that really made you feel beautiful? Danielle is reluctant until she feels super sexy in her present from Michael. A story bound to warm even the most reluctant of lovers.
  • A Christmas shopping expedition to England’s capitol city ends up with a visit to a live sex show. An erotic author and her boyfriend are about to view the action from very close quarters. Will it be everything they expected, or more?
  • Leanne is bored with the commercialism Christmas invariably brings. Will new employee Mike encourage her to get into the spirit of things by allowing him to spend the season with her?
  • Adventurous couple Clare and Jake have wonderful imaginations that run riot around this time of year. Even the dullest of Christmas decorations can become erotic in the extreme. What else do they have hidden away in their ‘Naughty Box’?
  • Penny is listening to Christmas Carol singers outside her window, when Jack arrives to spend the night. A lazy preparation of finger food won’t be enough to satisfy either of these passionate lovers.

Excerpt:

Penny sat beside the fire and muted the sound from the TV. She could just make out the faint voices singing ‘Good King Wenceslas’.

Jack would be calling round at 6pm. She could hardly wait and closed her eyes to think delicious thoughts about what the evening might entail.

Penny had prepared a meal of sorts, finger food her mother would call it whilst her best friend Zoe called it ‘lazy’. There were chicken wings, spicy and plain, sausage rolls and three different quiches, some breadsticks and dips and a few other nibbles, crisps mainly.

Anyway Penny didn’t want to spend the evening eating, it had been a difficult week at work and her stress levels were higher than usual. She was planning on an evening of unbridled passion and had prepared the bedroom accordingly with warm red sheets and scented Ylang Ylang candles waiting patiently to be lit. All there was left to do was immerse herself in a deep bath of softening, sensuous bubbles that would guarantee velvety skin just begging to be stroked.

At 6pm Jack arrived wearing a huge grin and holding out a bottle of chilled chardonnay.

He gathered her into his arms almost immediately, placing the bottle down on the nearest surface so that his hands were free to roam over Penny’s warm body through the silken robe she was wearing. Her curves yielded to his touch as his mouth found hers covering it with his full, soft lips and drawing from her a low groan when he eased his tongue inside her receptive mouth.

“I’ve waited all day for your body.” Jack muttered against her lips as he started to ease the robe from one of her silken shoulders.

“Good.” Penny murmured in response and her fingers set about undoing the buttons on his pale blue shirt.

They backed up into the room, their lips still searching and nibbling, Penny’s robe was left behind them in a pool on the floor as Jack’s hands explored every soft inch of her body with wide palms, stroking and squeezing her sensitized flesh.

Jack turned Penny around in one movement and bent her forward with her hands against the wall as he loosened his trousers, pulling them down to his knees along with his under shorts.

“I love your ass,” he breathed, “God I love your ass.”

Campus Sexploits 3 Naughty Bit. ****The leather couch is in my office for the nights I have had to work late and it provides a very comfortable relaxing space when the need arises. Knowing it is positioned so Seth can see me, I stretch on my tiptoes for a book on the top shelf of the bookcase. The movement caused my skirt to inch up and my sweater to tighten even more. I knew he was appreciateing the view.
Just as I had a hold on the book, I lost my grip and it fell to the floor. Bending over to give him an ample view of my backside and a glimpse of my soaked, black panties, I picked up the book. Turning around, I saw Seth adjusting his very prominent erection in his snug-fitting jeans.
"Oh Seth, it looks like we have found another problem. Would you like my help with that also?"
With understanding in his eyes, “Yes, Ms. Barnes,” he replied in a whisper.
I walked over and stood in front of him, my legs slightly spread. He shifted on the sofa and I could smell his arousal, musky and all man. I lifted my sweater over my head, revealing a black, lacy bra. The movement created more friction on my already hardened nipples. I folded my sweater and placed it on a chair. Everything has it’s place.

Promo Monday with Gemma Parkes

This week I'm pleased to welcome back Gemma Parkes! This time, she's here to talk about her latest book Park 'N Ride!

Hi Phoenix
Thank you for having me over today. Quite a lot has been going on since the last time l visited your blog. I have been busy writing short stories for anthology requests and l am also towards the end of a new novella which is shaping up really well! August saw the release of an anthology of my own work, four short stories about outdoors sex, in particular ‘dogging’ that wonderful art of sex in cars surrounded by an audience! The book is entitled ‘Park ‘N Ride’ and it is available to purchase from Amazon kindle, Yellow Silk Dreams and Smashwords.

Synopsis:
‘Good Doggy’ tells the story of a couple’s first encounter with the dogging scene. The vision thrills them so much that they can hardly contain their excitement and decide to join in with a few moves of their own!
‘Naked Moon’ Natalie’s life is mundane and unfulfilling. When a new neighbour moves in next door, he takes her deep into the forest and shows her something that will change her life forever.
‘Good Doggy Two’ revisits the sexy couple for the first story and sees them wanting to push the boundaries as far as they can to achieve ultimate thrills. Dancing naked and having sex with an audience will always bring drive some people towards sexual release. But it’s better with three!
‘The Midnight Gathering’ Amber and Danny are getting down to a little outdoors love in the dark when they are disturbed by strange noises. Taking Amber back to the safety of the car, Danny decides to investigate alone and is amazed and excited by what he finds.
Excerpt: (warning, sexual content)
“Hand me the oil.” said one, looking towards the man who held the items. The oil was brought forward and the one who had spoken stepped into the ring and began to coat the woman’s body with it as she danced. Danny heard her groan as her body was handled with sweeping, oily fingers. Her breasts began to glisten and many of the men murmured their approval.
The track on the CD changed to a slow rhythmic beat.
“It is time!” spoke the man with the oil.
Suddenly the woman dropped to her knees, leaning forward onto her hands and tipping back her head so that her hair cascaded further down her to the base of her glowing spine. There were cheers as the oil man began to undress himself. Soon he was as naked as she and he proceeded to cover his own body with the glistening liquid. Then kneeling behind her he took his cock in his hand and pressed backwards and forwards against her waiting sex. She opened her legs wider in invitation and the man entered her as the crowd whooped and several of them clapped sporadically.
The woman’s cries began to echo around the woodland as the oiled man took her furiously, pounding into her in time with the music. Her head remained tilted back and Danny could see her blood red mouth parted and her eyes wild with excitement. He thought she looked a little like a wild, wanton creature of the night, begging to be tamed.
Soon she began tossing her head from side to side. Danny stroked his excited cock through his jeans. He had never seen anything like this before and from his viewpoint behind the bush he could see the woman’s body so clearly. Her beautiful breasts jiggled with the movement and her ass jutted upwards to meet the steady pounding from the man behind her. As she tossed her head, her hair flicked back and forth some of it sticking to her oily skin. The rest of the men stood closely by watching with
intense lust.
With a sharp shout the man inside her was sated. Slowly he withdrew his spent cock to more cheers from the baying men. Danny’s breath came in short, noisy pants as he saw the woman’s gaping sex left wide and open, glistening with the wetness from her own body and the seed from her lover.
The show, however, was not over yet. Danny watched as two other’s now took their places, both had removed their clothes and they set about taking the woman with fevered passion. She seemed as eager as them to continue the session as one entered her from behind and another took her mouth.
