Men of May Blog Hop

I think the main topic is pretty self-explanatory, so I’m just going to jump in to it.

Some of the others participating in this Men of May Blog Hop and I considered it for a while myself. Instead I am going to talk about the men behind what will be my first of many books from Phoenix Johnson.

First and foremost is the leading man in my life and heart, Justin. He’s always encouraging me to keep writing, cracking a whip when I’m dragging my feet and grumbling, and supportive of my choice to write what I write. I’ve always been passionate about the paranormal, and a reluctant romance fan. Recently, with the help of a few friends and their books I had the honour of reviewing, I’ve also become a fan of erotica. So I thought why not combine the three. And thus the Wolf Smitten series was born.

When the first installment, The Wolf in the Neighborhood, was in the first stages, I found myself tripping over a few plot ideas. A few nights, Justin and I ended up staying up late in bed talking over ideas, hashing out plot twists and turns until it felt right and made sense. Although he doesn’t have the same passion for the written word that I do, it is wonderful to have him with me, willing to let me bounce ideas off him and debate the plausibility of plot lines. It has been like this with all of my WIP’s, even when I had to write up the synopsis’ for Once Bitten Twice Shy and Leader of The Pack, books two and three of Wolf Smitten, and I’m sure we will continue to discuss ideas for all future books, not just my current WIP’s. It is something I highly look forward to, sharing ideas and plot with the man with whom I share my life.

The other main man behind my writing has been a friend of mine for a short time, relatively, named Mike. We were introduced to each other on Facebook by mutual friend Penny, marketing director of Naughty Nights Press. Mike helped me with proof-reading scenes I stumbled over, as well as helping me research army bases in the States as well as ranks, pay-grades, years in service and plausible causes for accidental deaths in the service. It is very handy having an American Army-movie nut as a friend, I can tell you! When time came to name a couple goon-like characters, Mike also helped me brain-storm names so, naturally, one of the two reoccurring leading guys in Wolf Smitten was named after him. (Don’t worry, I also name another man after Justin, although it’s more subtle.)

Both of these men have been instrumental in helping me write my first books, which now has me on the way to becoming, I hope, a brilliant author. So to Justin and Mike, thank you for helping Phoenix Johnson become the author she was meant to be!

  3. A supprot group is great for writing. I need one right now, lol. My hubby help too but he reads fantasy so he doesn't really get the romance aspect of what I write. But he does read it and he gives tons of support.

Megs, he may not follow the same genre, but it's fantastic he still supports you! They're both great genres.
Thank you again, and best of luck with the major prize!

  5. How wonderful to have such support. Sometimes just being able to talk it out with someone works the kinks out. No matter what it is you need to talk about. Wolf Smitten is going onto my To Buy list. It sounds pretty good!
